Latent Images are images that are unable to be seen with the naked eye, because they are only visible upon development.

A solargraph is a photo that is exposed for a long period of time, via pinhole camera. The solar part of the word is in direct relation to the fact that the path of the sun is captured in a photograph, the suffix being therefore explained. The colors of these images are never exact to the situation, as crystals growing on silver halite grains effect the color. The sun's path can be seen as a white streak(s) near the top of the image.

It is impossible for these images to be developed in a dark room, because of their prolonged exposure. Due to this, the chemicals of a dark room would push them too far, and very little would be visible. Therefore, the images must be scanned.
